East Midlands Airport UK – Flying With Great Holiday Ideas
Keeping up its commitment to building holiday opportunities, without the hassle of long car journeys to international “hub” airports in the south or northwest of England, the UK’s East Midlands Airport continues to offer plenty of choice for the holidaymaker on a short break or a longer holiday.
One example is Beauvais near Paris, where cheap flights from the airport can cost as little as £10.00. Beauvais is a town brimming with culture, with many museums, sporting events and festive happenings, it’s the perfect city break. And of course, it is easy to get to Paris and enjoy the highlights there too – one of the most famous city break destinations and a perfect treat for that someone special.
Other city break ideas include Irish holidays to locations such as Knock, located in County Mayo in southern Ireland, one of the most picturesque counties. With its breathtaking craggy coastline, interspersed with sandy beaches and charming villages, its charm will undoubtedly leave you wanting more. Or perhaps you might try the vibrant city of Belfast in Northern Ireland.

A great traditional winter idea to please all the family would be a trip to Lapland to see Father Christmas. East Midlands Airport actually has day trip to Lapland – which includes a guaranteed private family meeting with the great man himself. But it is also possible, of course, to enjoy a comforting stay in small, cosy, friendly family run hotels as well as participating in a range of arctic activities, such as reindeer, husky and snowmobile safaris.
But further afield, also flying from East Midlands, a fantastic winter sun idea would be a trip to The Gambia in West Africa. With the tour operator The Gambia Experience, you can escape the British winter for under £300 for a week.
Just 6 hours from the UK, The Gambia, known as the Smiling Coast will give you a warm welcome. The former British colony offers a tropical experience, friendly English speaking locals, exotic culture and almost unbroken sunshine from November right through to April The Gambia boasts temperatures of over 30 degrees C, plus stretches of uncrowded sandy beaches, a wide range of restaurants and a variety of accommodation, making it the perfect winter sun destination.
Or even further afield, it is possible to fly from East Midlands Airport to exotic Mexico, sizzling with sunshine and burning with Spanish party passion. With great weather, fabulous food and a vibrant nightlife, Mexico really can be seen as the ultimate holiday destination. There is much to explore in Mexico from the desert sands and Mayan ruins to the jungle and its two coastlines.
Thus East Midlands, along with other UK regional airports, are continuing to push hard to keep variety, value and choice alive at times when the economic challenges for holidaymakers and businesses are clear for all to see.

The Joys and Challenges to Flying RC Jet Planes
In recent years, radio controlled (RC) jet planes, or RC jets have become more and more popular as a pastime. Not long ago, the only options were propeller driven RC airplanes. Flying RC jet planes is more challenging and rewarding, especially if you LOVE going really fast! But there are some challenges and things to consider before learning to fly one of these babies. Here are a few tips to guide you along. First thing is to realize that you don’t just jump into a super fast Mach 2 RC jet right off the bat. This is true even if you have experience flying regular prop RC planes. For this reason, RC jets come in three types, as follows.
• 1. Pusher jets – These have a fan type propeller in the rear that pushes the plane along its way. Typically, these RC jet planes move slower than the other types and are great for beginners.
• 2. Ducted fan propulsion planes – These have a strong fan type propeller that works in a duct. The duct serves as an orifice that increases the air pressure from the back of the plane, moving it along faster. These go somewhat faster than pusher RC jet planes and are the choice of experienced RC pilots looking for a little more.
• 3. Turbine ducted propulsion jets – These quick little RC jet planes are the fastest you can get and go extremely fast, so they are pretty much reserved for very experienced pilots. This type of RC jet is fitted with a propulsion system that actually burns jet fuel. For the RC pilot that has flown everything else, this type of RC jet is the epitome of RC jet plane flying. The biggest differences between RC jets and RC prop planes are the speed, the propulsion system and the room you need to operate one. All RC jet planes are pushed from the back just like the big jets. Prop planes have propellers on the wings or nose that pull the plane. This explains the speed as well as being pulled is much less efficient than being pushed. Because of the speed of the RC jet planes, you need MUCH more room to fly one. RC jet planes require a lot of room since they cover so much area quickly. Stay as far away from trees, power lines, poles, houses and any high structures as possible. If you do not give yourself enough room to fly, you will damage the plane OR someone’s property in the process. Also, RC jet planes need a lot of room to turn and maneuver due to the speed. Try turning your car around at 10 mph and then again at 30 mph. You will find that you need more room at 30mph. It is the same principle with flying RC jets. So if you are after a truly one of a kind radio controlled flight experience, try an RC jet. You will love the feel and the power as well as the thrill of flying at high rates of speed for extended periods.
At RCAirplaneHub, you will discover an amazing selection of low priced and excellent quality rc jet planes.
Question by the cool guy: How to add jet planes to Flight Simulator X?
I have downloaded a few jet planes and have them saved on my desktop, but I can’t figure out how to add it to the list of airplanes in the game.In other words… How do you get it in to the game after downloading?

Uk’s East Midlands Airport – Keeping the Regional Airport Flag Flying
The UK’s popular East Midlands Airport has set out its stall for UK travellers looking for an easy start to their holiday this autumn and winter. Like other UK regional airports in recent years, East Midlands Airport has seen substantial growth and development. This is in a great degree due to the development of new routes by low cost carriers to new destinations. But it is also due to the demands of discerning travellers, who realise increasingly that no package holiday should begin with an exhausting and expensive trip to the so-called “hub” airports in the south or north-west of England.
As the credit crunch begins to bite, such considerations of cost as well as convenience will intensify the need for travellers to look at all aspects of their budget. Hence they will be selecting destinations based on available routes from their local airport to save fuel on driving to a far-away airport, or hotels costs for an overnight stay before departure.
Additionally, the price of fuel is already causing airlines such as Ryanair (who have seen exponential growth in the past decade) to cut back on selected routes. How this will affect customer choice and the ability of some destinations to continue to attract UK visitors is yet to be seen, but experience shows that destinations without a traditional following will be hard-pressed to keep customer loyalty when low-cost travel facilities start to dry up in coming seasons.
Thus in the case of East Midlands Airport, popular but less mainstream locations are being heavily promoted, alongside traditional summer and winter holiday destinations. These include Ryanair routes such as Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and Faro in Portugal – both popular for traveller traditionally seeking extended summer sun where the weather tends to stay good through to early October. And in the case of Faro in particular – where days of less favourable weather can be compensated by excellent cultural attractions.
Also promoted heavily are trips to Prague from October. The Czech Republic’s capital city has been enjoying a massive boost in UK travel – not necessarily simply due to the growth in stag weekends, but also due to the easy accessibility from regional airports at prices which allow travellers to afford to grab several weekend breaks each year in addition to their main holidays. Destinations such as Prague are likely to continue to attract business for this reason.
Another destination which has always attracted a big UK following is Bulgaria. Again, hardly mainstream like Spain or Greece for Summer holidays, or Austria and France for ski breaks, the destination nevertheless has a loyalty amongst the discerning, who have long since discovered the excellent value for money to be had in this destination in the South East of Europe, with its blue flag beaches, sunny weather and high quality hotels. For the winter, of course, Bulgaria also features its three skiing resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo. These are perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers, with Bansko and Borovets being most suitable for advanced skiers. All three resorts have a wide choice of excellent hotels and apartments and excellent apres ski including restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Hence, travellers looking for a ski destination served locally at East Midlands Airport are well served.
Thus East Midlands, along with other UK regional airports, are pushing hard to keep variety, value and choice alive at times when the challenges for holidaymakers and businesses alike are plain to see.

Question by AAGAAG: What determines if an airport is considered Regional or International?
I am a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines and recently worked on a GPT (Gulf-port/Biloxi MS) to ATL (Atlanta GA) flight and noticed that they were calling GPT an international airport when in fact it doesn’t have any scheduled airline service to an international city outside of the US. They also consider PFN (Panama City FL) an international airport. Pensacola has a way bigger airport big enough to use 757′s and we call it a regional airport. Whats up with that?

The first answer is incorrect — size has nothing to do with the designation. The only thing that makes an airport an international airport (as opposed to a regional airport) is the presence of customs and immigration facilities at the airport — if it has these facilities, it can be designated as an international airport.
While international airports are typically larger than regional airports, this is not always the case — the airport in Bellingham, Washington, for example, is an international airport because it has the proper facilities. The airport, however, is very small, with only a few commercial flights in and out of it each day — and none of these flights are to destinations in Canada. It does, however, act as a port of entry for non-commercial planes flying into the US from Canada or other countries; thus, the need for the facilities.
