The Budapest Airport Shuttle – Thinking Ahead

Article by Gergely Garami

There are many marvellous places in Budapest that you’ll probably want to spend time looking around – but we’re betting that you haven’t got the airport itself on your list! So once you’ve arrived, you’ll probably want a fast and moderately priced Budapest Airport Shuttle to get you to your final destination as fast as possible.

Public Transport Options

There are, of course, options for public transport. The fare is usually paid directly to the driver. This may not suit all passengers though, particularly those that are travelling in groups or that have bulky luggage with them such as sports equipment. Public transport also probably won’t take you right to your point of destination and that may not be much fun if you’re also travelling with, say, young children.

If you want to combine a fast exit from the airport and arrival to your exact end destination, you can look for private Budapest Airport Shuttle services.

Using a Private Shuttle Service

The advantages of using a private service are clear:

*Personalised collection;

*Fast exit from the airport with no waiting for others;

*Delivery to your exact final destination;

*Expert advice and guidance from your local driver;

*Pre-arranged collection and return to the airport on departure;

*Payments in multiple currencies accepted.

You may be surprised at just how moderately priced such services are.

How It Works

To ensure your speedy collection, I and the other Budapest Airport Shuttle drivers, need to know certain things in advance:

*Your name, flight number and airline plus estimated arrival details;

*The total number of passengers in your group;

*Your final destination;

*Any special needs of your party (outsize luggage, very young babies or children travelling, elderly people etc);

*Your return flight details.

The price is usually paid to us upon arrival. Do please let us know in advance if you wish to pay in a non-local currency.

Budapest Airport Shuttle Collections and Deliveries

We will agree a place with you in the airport where we’ll be waiting for you. It’s easy to find and we’ll usually be holding up a placard with your name on it. You just come up, introduce yourself and we’ll take it from there!

On the return leg, we will agree a date and time where we’ll collect you. The transit time to the airport will vary depending on where you’re travelling to or from but in line with modern airline advice, we normally recommend you aim to arrive at the airport approximately 2 hours prior to your departure. We will advise you on a sensible time for pick-up on the return leg, taking into account this factor plus the prevailing traffic conditions etc.

Split Groups

If you are travelling alone or in a small party, we will be happy to take you directly to your destination. Alternatively, it may be a little cheaper if we consolidate your party with another in the one Budapest Airport Shuttle transfer vehicle. We’ll be happy to explain the options here in more detail if you let us know your requirements.

Things to Remember

Here are a few tips to help you get to your final destination as fast as possible.

1.Try to provide a destination address that includes the street and postcode. A telephone number at destination may also be useful if it happens to be a quiet location on a small side-street etc.

2.Do please remember to tell us in advance if you’re travelling with excess baggage such as multiple suitcases per person.

3.If your travel plans change (e.g. 6 people in your group instead of 4) then again please let us know as soon as possible.

4.There’s no need to panic if your flight is delayed – we regularly monitor flights and will automatically adjust our pick-up time to compensate.

All these things will make your journey to and from our city as smooth as possible. We look forward to seeing you on our Budapest Airport Shuttle!

Question by vrmatz_2006: How much do I tip the driver of an airport shuttle van?
I am taking a airport shuttle van from my house to LAX and then back when I return. One-way the trip is $ 25. Do I tip both ways? (I’m assuming there will be different drivers). How much do I tip? I’m leaving on an early flight which means the driver is getting to my house around 4 am, am I supposed to give extra for coming early? I’ve never done this before obviously and need whatever help I can get. Thanks in advance!
Oh. Also I’m leaving on Christmas Eve. I don’t want to be stingy but I also don’t want to give a ridiculous amount of tip either.

I think $ 5 each way would be plenty. There will be other people in the shuttle, and they will all tip about the same. Your driver will do fine.

Dodge Sprinter Makes a Great Shuttle Vehicle

Article by Andrew Stratton

The Dodge Sprinter commercial van can be used in many ways, but some argue that it is best utilized as a roomy shuttle vehicle for trips to the airport, and extended road trips with lots of people. And the Sprinter does offer many great features that easily lend itself to a luxurious and spacious ride to that far off destination. Here’s what you can expect from this top-rated van:

Lots of Passenger Elbow RoomMany mini-vans and sport utility vehicles claim to have room for seven people, but in reality once all the luggage and other travel gear is stuffed inside there is scarcely room for more than a few passengers to fit themselves into the remaining open spaces.

The Dodge Sprinter, however, is big! Really, really big! It can carry a total of 12 people plus lots and lots of luggage in the back, eliminating the need to store it all inconveniently at your feet. Each passenger gets his own full seat with a three-point seat belt and an adjustable headrest. And if you have babies on board
