Question by : Transferring luggages with airport changes?!?
I’m about to book my flight online, but it says that on my way back I would have to change airports from GATWICK airport to HEATHROW airport (in London). but if i change airports does that mean I have to pick up my luggages from GATWICK and re-check them in at HEATHROW? or will the airports transfer the luggages for me? AND if I do have to pick up my luggages, when I recheck them in, will I have to pay another fee for my luggages? ALSO, do you think I’ll have enough time getting from Gatwick to Heathrow when I arrive at Gatwick at 11am and my flight leaving from Heathrow is at 2:30pm?

Question by Emily: Things to do in Hobart… not necessarily cultural, just SOMETHING TO DO.?
I’m a gap year student and have been travelling. I am now in Lindisfarne, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania and pretty stuck for cheap things to do. I’m staying with relatives here and can’t really afford to stay in hotels so can’t go out for more than one day. Especially since I’m too young to hire a car.

I’ve been up Mt. Wellington, visited Richmond, Ross, Rosny and Cambridge shopping centres, Salamanca Markets, Hobart Museum and Art Gallery, Elizabeth Street shopping, Huon Valley and Huonville, been to 7 Mile Beach and Sandy Bay…. I know of Port Arthur and may go there. I may go see the Botanical Gardens, though it’s winter and I’m not expecting much.

What else can I do? Any suggestions at all are welcome? Please?

The Botanical gardens are well worth a look even thought its winter there still a lot going on

Other things you might try:
There are sometimes free concerts in the Town Hall or St Davids Cathedral they’re usually listed in the Mercury
Grab a coffee and people watch in North Hobart lots of cafes and restaurants
Forestry Tasmania have lunch time talks and forums in their office in Melville st
The state library has a collection of Georgian furniture silverware and glass (not big but some fantastic stuff)

If your feel a bit more energetic your could look at Conservation VVolunteerswho help rehabilitate native bush land

Question by suz_e_q_zee: What is the best location to pick up my car hire in Edinburgh area?
I’m planning a trip to Scotland in October and have an arrival at Edinburgh Airport. I’ll use a taxi to get to my hotel and after spending a few days in Edinburgh, I would like to hire a car and spend some time on a driving tour.

I understand Edinburgh is difficult to navigate, so should I plan to return to the airport to pick up, or would it be better to just pick up at Waverly Station?

Also, any thoughts on local companies (ie: AutoEurope, etc.) vs. a global company such as Avis or Hertz?

well if you want to spend a few days just looking at edinburgh then its best to wait untill you want to see the rest of scotland before getting a car. because the streets in edinburgh are very very busy and the bypass is way past the number of cars it was built for.

i think europecar is the cheapest and you can get it at the train station. but i would only get a car if you are wanting to see the highlands because you can get everywhere else from edinburgh alot cheaper and easier through bus and trains
